Effective July 1, 2021, Ghanaian film producers and filmmakers who sell their feature films to Ghanaian TV stations to air will have their mother bodies to deal with.
This is according to a joint agreement by stakeholder bodies in the film industry including the Film Producers Association of Ghana, Film Crew Association of Ghana, Marketers & Distributors Association of Ghana and Ghana Academy of Film & Television Arts.
The agreement was made at the end of a 3-day strategy session organised and sponsored by the Ghana Tourism Authority to understand the challenges and the reasons behind the collapse of the film industry and to enable the various stakeholders to put together solutions to revive the exhibition, marketing and sales of Ghanaian movies, which once was a model for Film Producers across the world.
According to a statement made available to www.scoopyvibes.com, all feature films already sold to Ghanaian TV channels could show until the agreed dates expire. They also advised that the directives are taken seriously and complied with until further notice.
