A number of Ghanaian media houses including Peace FM, Hello FM, Angel FM, Silver FM, Happy FM, Silver FM and Real FM have been accused of illegally running live commentaries on the ongoing UEFA EURO 2020 Tournament despite not securing the rights for it.
According to a statement sighted by Scoopyvibes.com and signed by Richard Dimosi Diasolwa, Chief Executive Officer of Media Business Solutions UK, preliminary checks with Supersport, StarTimes and UEFA/CAAll who have different category of media rights over the Tournament in Ghana confirm that none of the above radio stations has obtained the relevant media rights to run the live commentaries, therefore, engaging in piracy that is, infringing the media rights of the UEFA EURO 2020 Tournament in Ghana.
The company has since advised the general public, the infringing media houses and especially the commercial sponsors of these infringing and pirated live commentaries to desist from their unlawful activities.
It has also threatened to avail itself together with its partner Multimedia Group Limited to all legal and regulatory avenues in Ghana to seek redress for the breaches of their rights.
Media Business Solutions UK Limit. (MBS) is a company based in the United Kingdom which acquired exclusive free-to air television and radio media rights over the UEFA EURO 2020 Tournament from CAA Eleven in Ghana. CAA Eleven (CAA 11) is the commercial rights management of UEFA-organized national team competitions.
