Sam George, Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram in the Greater Accra Region has threatened to beat the Australian High Commissioner to Ghana, Andrew Barnes, for calling on the Government of Ghana to legalize Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI+).

The threats come after he was asked about growing calls for the legalization of LGBTQ in the country. In an interview on Starr Chat monitored by, the Member of Parliament minced no words and used unsavoury words on the High Commissioner.

He’s heard saying:

“I can’t do what? Why can’t I beat him? If he decides not to be a diplomat, I’ll treat him like a non diplomat. Because a diplomat has signed a letter of credence which says he will respect the laws of Ghana. The laws of Ghana do not allow you to do homosexuality then you with your two left legs, you leave Australia and come to Ghana to come and redeem your image..Do you know his career? He’s somebody who doesn’t know his identity.”

Sam George also alleged the Ambassador approached parliament to lobby the Speaker help legalise it.
