CBS Is Not Signing A $2 Billion Contract With Dave Chappelle For A New Late Night Show
For many who yearn to see American comedian Dave Chappelle back with CBS, a recent publication that suggests that the legend has signed a $2 Billion deal would have been good news.
However, we are sorry to burst your bubble. The said news is FALSE.
CBS has not signed any such deal with the comedian.
The said news emanated from a newly created Facebook page (DailyNews) known for posting satirical comments.
The page says: “We post SATIRE, nothing on this page is real.”
The satirical post shared some hours ago has since gone viral leading others to believe it.
Dave Chappelle is one of the most celebrated comedians of this generation. With his sketch comedy show, “Chappelle’s Show,” he became one of entertainment’s biggest names.
For more than 30 years, Dave Chappelle has been making people laugh. He studied theatre at a performing arts high school in Washington and started sneaking into comedy clubs when he was 14.
His career exploded after two hilarious seasons of “Chappelle’s Show” on Comedy Central. He then famously walked away at the height of his success after turning down a $50 million contract extension and leaving the country for South Africa.
In 2006, after his departure, Chappelle told Oprah Winfrey in an interview that he had left the show in part because of stress and in part because he felt conflicted about the material he was producing, saying, “I was doing sketches that were funny, but were socially irresponsible.”
