Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has extended the deadline for payment of fees for defaulting students by a month.

This was communicated in a press release obtained by scoopyvibes.com.

According to the statement signed by Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar, University Relations Office, the decision was arrived at following a meeting with the Minister of Education, Hon. Yaw Adutwum, and other stakeholders on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Students who were affected by the deadline of 7th of April 2022 now have up to 20th May 2022 to settle their fees without further delay.

The University has since urged all affected students to take advantage of the opportunity to pay up the approved fees before the commencement of the First-Semester Examination on the 23rd of May 2022.

It also urged students with genuine financial challenges to contact the Students loan Trust Fund located at the GRASAG Building, KNUST.

On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, over 6000 students, representing about 8 percent of the 85,256 student population of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) were made to defer their courses in line with university regulations for nonpayment of school fees.

This was after the authorities had initially extended the payment date from March 21, 2022, to April 11, 2022, to allow the students to honor their obligation.

It was later revealed that some of the affected students had invested their fees in many businesses including online hailing taxi services and were yet to recoup the investment and make payment.
